"We have a secret in our culture, and it's not that birth is painful. It's that women are strong"

-Laura Stavoe

Hypnobirthing in Sutton

You may have had someone say to you by now “why make a birth plan, when birth rarely goes to plan?”

Yes, birth often doesn’t go to ‘plan’ but plans can change. It’s the births where things don’t go ‘to plan’ that you need to know what your options are so you can make informed choices. I know this because I have been in your shoes. For my birth, having a plan in place, even though it didn’t go exactly as I wished, was the single biggest factor in having a positive experience.

No one can predict what will happen during your labour BUT you can turn up to your birth unit feeling empowered, informed, confident & in control with a few pain relief strategies under your belt so you can manage for longer if the going gets tough. Learn more about hypnobirthing here.

“Sophie was so friendly and accommodating from the beginning and came to our house to deliver the sessions. It was great to have the 1-2-1 support and guidance from Sophie. The personal approach from Sophie’s sessions, along with learning about the science of birth and the important role hormones play has been incredibly beneficial. We were feeling quite nervous but now feel empowered as we have the knowledge to navigate the system and make the right decisions for us no matter what happens during the birth.”

Still undecided?

  • The course could be considered a lot of money and I understand the concern when you are about to go on maternity leave. Think of hypnobirthing as an investment for yourself, your birth and your baby! The NHS is understaffed and underfunded, there is a real gap in the education that is provided at your antenatal appointments and I can bridge that gap. I believe my course truly is necessary to help you get prepared for all birth scenarios and is good value for money with what is included. Think of it this way - how much did you spend on your wedding if you are married? Did you think twice about the cost of the photographer or dress? Think of the other things you are likely to spend money on, a travel system for baby? A new born photoshoot? A private scan or perhaps a family holiday? Why not put that money towards what is likely to be the biggest day of your life, one you will remember for years to come. The day you meet your child. I know you will want to look back at this day feeling positive and empowered.

  • This is a very common and often it’s that they do not understand what hypnobirthing is and how it can be so life changing. It can be hard for the birth partner to know how important it is if they are not the one who is going to be giving birth. My husband was also skeptical before we started and now he shouts about hypnobirthing from the rooftops! Your birth partner will attend for the entireity of the course, by the end they will be excited and know how to best support you. They’ll be an indespensible part of your birth.

  • Absolutely not! Hypnobirthing is for all people and all births. It is the case that many people who do hypnobirthing opt for a home birth as they feel confident and empowered to do so however not everyone wants to birth this way and that is a decision for you to make. Where and how you choose to give birth is a personal decision and I do not promote one particular birth over another. On the course we will discussion in great detail where you can give birth and the medical and non medical pain relief options available to you. Once hearing the information you will be able to make the decision that is right for you.

  • I advise people to book my course when they are between 20 - 34 weeks pregnant. However you can book whenever you want to . If you are 12 weeks and feel you want to get ahead of the game and have more time to practise your techniques then be my guest!
